Learning Planet Festival
January 24-25, 2021
January 24 is an International Day of Education. On this day, the international Learning Planet Festival is annually held. The conference is organized in partnership with UNESCO and leading educational organizations around the world.

In 2021 the Kruzhok Movement and Global Education Futures co-hosted the conference. The Protopia track was dedicated to the map of the practices of the future. The conference was attended by experts in the field of education, as well as technology enthusiasts and social innovators from different countries. Topics for discussion were actual challenges and the possibilities of responding to them with technological, social and environmental focus.

The conference was held in English. Protopia track were held four meetings:

  • Protopia: How can we build up an Alliance
  • Protopia: 2020, A decisive decade
  • Celebrating the Voice of Youth with Stefania Giannini, ADG UNESCO
Protopia: What if the future is created by its users
Panel about the idea that we have no right not to talk with children about the future, so we must involve schoolchildren in the practices of the future. We will present the map of the practices of the future as one of the tools with which you can go out with school children into designing the future. And we will invite international colleagues to present their concepts of how the education system should change.

Protopia: The future we desire
What are the long-term scenarios for the 21 century that we anticipate - and how do we act upon them? This is a panel with experts and communities of practices considering big scenarios: long-term forecasting for 50+ years. We would like to discuss desirable and undesirable images of the future of the communities - and how can they act now to get into the desired future, what difficulties will they face, and how we can overcome them altogether.

Protopia: 2020, A decisive decade
Presentation of several studies on possible future scenarios for the coming decade. Our analysis shows that the long anticipated changes begin to unfold in the 2020s, and the new model of global society for the 21st century begins to take its shape. Whatever happens throughout this decade will have long-term implications for our collective future. The aim of our panel is to present the results of our visioning / mapping efforts for a number of communities that work on "shaping the future".

Panel with the leaders of several projects, who launch experiments in regenerative economics + educational system change or in the digital space. Celebrating the Voice of Youth with Stefania Giannini, ADG UNESCO
This is a plenary session to celebrate youth voice initiatives worldwide. This session is a chance to bring together and showcase the efforts of organisations worldwide who, despite the unique challenges of this past year, have managed to implement and further develop inspiring initiatives that support youth agency in Education and wider society. We will be joined by special guest Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director General, UNESCO, who, alongside Francois Taddei, co-founder of CRI, will recognise the collective efforts of all the exemplary youth organisations participating in the Festival.
